Mount Washington Cog Railway, is one of the last remaining coal run cog train in the US. That is about to change as they are converting to diesel-powered trains to hall tourist up Mount Washington.<br />

They still employ 5 coal trains and there are advocates for both sides. There are the environment friendly and cost effective diesel-powered train on one side and history buffs for the coal trains on the other side.<br />

The coal trains have been in use since the Sylvester Marsh began running trains up the 6,288-foot climb on July 3, 1869.<br />
